I write lots of songs that don’t get released, usually because they suck. But sometimes it’s because I just didn’t finish recording them, or the recording sucked, or sometimes a song sucked or wasn’t quite finished but I found a way to improve it; or it’s a song that I like but not worth arranging with the band… anyway the point is I can have them to myself and come back to them and finish them sometimes decades later and when I do I put them out as Old Haunts.
I made Volume 1, then wrote an essay about (almost) each song:

- Talking House
- I Guess Not
- Bastards
I spent much of 2025 finishing recordings of five An Invitation to Love songs with the intent to call it Old Haunts Volume 2, but then didn’t put it out for reasons. It might come out some other time. In the meanwhile, when I’m in the mood again eventually who knows when, I have another set of songs that could become volume 2. Anything’s possible!
